More Than Just Mama

This is Ash. She has been one of my besties since 7th grade! That is over 20 years of friendship!!! Man, I am getting old :/

Ash and I have been through a lot together in that time. We hid in bushes trying to  scare a friend with this alien we made out of a vacuum, broomstick and ball.

We were in each other’s weddings

We just were always there for each other. Especially, when the other needed a little pick me up.

Then, we both were expecting…

MOTHERHOOD!!! Wow!! There is not one book that could of really prepared me for what I was in for. Everyone handles motherhood differently. Some make it look so EASY!

I am a Stay-at-home-mom. For me, it is the hardest job I have EVER had! Stay-at-home Mamas out there…I give you a massive round of applause. I had 3 jobs at once while completing 18 units in school. Being a SAHM is waaaaay more work!

I am always worried that I am messing up, not doing everything right. All day is cleaning poop, feed the kids, dishes, laundry, clean more poop, feed the kids, dishes, bath…oh did I mention clean more poop?!?!  It never seems to end. I am working all day and at the end my house is still so messy. It is as if nothing was accomplished once I look around. Where did my day go? What can I show for it?

There is no award or  paycheck at the end of the week of being a Mama. Until now 🙂

My girlfriend Ashley was having different struggles than me.  She breastfeed her son for 12 months. For one WHOLE year! This has to be some overlooked superhero power.

Ashley struggled with quitting. Many women seem to as well and don’t seem to talk about it. Think about it. Ash, kept her son alive because of her breastmilk. She helped him grow. She built up his immunity by sacrificing her body and time to give him the best “Liquid gold” ever. These are things that seem to be ignored when you’re a Mama. Almost, like it’s not a big deal. Well, it should be acknowledged 🙂

I put a picture of this on snapchat and could not believe how many Mamas out there wrote me. They all said how they wish they got something like this. Or that they were SO proud of Ash for accomplishing something so difficult and remarkable.

After I left, she posted her award on Facebook.  This was Ashley’s post:

“No one had warned me about the roller coaster of emotions that can happen after nursing. I made it to a year with Roland and once I had decided to stop, I struggled for quite some time. So many feelings and mental challenges! I joked (but was really serious) to Sanja about moms deserving an award for nursing…No matter how long they did it for. And look what she had made for me!!! “Best of the Breast” award for providing Roland with “liquid gold”! You have no idea how much this means to mean Sanja. I love and appreciate you so much! Short story done”

I loved seeing all her comments on her Facebook. SO many people acknowledged her hard work and sacrifice. Ash, you deserve so much praise for all you do for that little man of yours. As do all the other SuperMamas out there going through their own struggles. This award goes out to all of you as well.
